John Waite - Missing You - 1984 Lyrics

Everytime I think of you
I always catch my breath
And I'm still standing here
And you're miles away
And I'm wonderin' why you left
And there's a storm that's raging
Through my frozen heart tonight

I hear your name in certain circles
And it always makes me smile
I spend my time thinkin' about you
And it's almost driving me wild
And there's a heart that's breaking
Down this long distance line tonight

I ain't missing you at all
(Missing you)
Since you've been gone away
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
I ain't missing you
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
No matter what my friends say
(Missing you)
(Missing you)

There's a message in the wire
And I'm sending you this signal tonight
You don't know how desperate I've become
And it looks like I'm losing this fight
In your world I have no meaning
Though I'm trying hard to understand
And it's my heart that's breaking
Down this long distance line tonight

I ain't missing you at all
(Missing you)
Since you've been gone away
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
I ain't missing you
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
No matter what my friends say
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
(I'm missing you)

And there's a message that I'm sending out
Like a telegraph to your soul
And if I can't bridge this distance
Stop this heartbreak overload

I ain't missing you at all
(Missing you)
Since you've been gone away
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
I ain't missing you
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
No matter what my friends say
(Missing you)
(I'm missing you)

I ain't missing you
(Missing you)
I ain't missing you
(Missing you)
I can lie to myself

And there's a storm that's raging
Through my frozen heart tonight

I ain't missing you at all
(Missing you)
Since you've been gone away
(Missing you)
I ain't missing you
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
No matter what my friends say
(Missing you)
(I'm missing you)

I ain't missing you
(Missing you)
I ain't missing you at all
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
I ain't missing you
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
No matter what my friends say
(Missing you)
(I'm missing you)
I ain't missing you
I ain't missing you
I can lie to myself
Ain't missing you
I ain't missing you
I ain't missing you
I ain't missing you
I ain't missing you
I ain't missing you
Ain't missing you, oh no
No matter what my friends might say
I ain't missing you...

John Waite - Missing You - 1984 Free Music Videos Trivia
John Waite singing the song Missing You
John Waite (born John Charles Waite, 4 July 1952, Lancaster, Lancashire, England) is a rock singer and musician. He was the lead vocalist for the bands The Babys and Bad English. As a solo artist, he scored a #1 hit in the United States with "Missing You" in 1984.

The next album Mask of Smiles followed in 1985, and another single "If Anybody Had a Heart" was released from the soundtrack of the 1986 film About Last Night..., starring Demi Moore. In 1987, "Rover's Return" was released with the single "These Times Are Hard For Lovers". Waite would have another soundtrack appearance in 1990 from Days of Thunder with "Deal for Life", written by Martin Page and Bernie Taupin.

In 1988, Waite joined former Babys bandmates Jonathan Cain and Ricky Phillips along with Neal Schon from Journey and drummer Deen Castronovo, to form the supergroup Bad English. In 1989, the Bad English ballad "When I See You Smile" (penned by Diane Warren) became a number one song in the United States. Bad English would release two albums before tensions amongst the members led to the band's dissolution by 1992.

Waite returned to solo work and since 1995 has produced five solo albums including his latest album Downtown... Journey of a Heart. He still tours, including in 2003 with Ringo Starr's All Starr Band, and as an opening act for Journey in 2005.

In 2006, "Missing You" was released as a duet with Alison Krauss and reached the Top 40 on the Country Charts in the United States. Waite appeared with Krauss on the Tonight Show on February 5, 2007 to perform "Missing You."

Music Video

The music video was written/directed/produced by Kort Falkenberg III and was actually filmed in Los Angeles during the summer of 1984. Although some people understandably have mistaken the street scene for New York City or London, the director intentionally looked for a location in downtown Los Angeles where there was "no Stucco" on the walls which would have been a dead giveaway that it was shot in the Southwest US. He wanted it to look neutral and not be identifiable as any particular city. [1]
