Don Cherry - Band Of Gold - 1970 Lyrics

I've never wanted wealth untold my life has one design

A simple little band of gold to prove that you are mine

Don't want the world to have and hold for fame is not my line

Just want a little band of gold to prove that you are mine

Some sail away to Araby or other lands of mystery

But all the wonders that they see will never tempt me

Their memories will soon grow cold but till the end of time

I'll have a little band of gold to prove that you are mine

Their memories will soon grow cold...

"Band of Gold" is a popular song with music by Jack Taylor and lyrics by Bob Musel. It was published in 1955.

The biggest hit version was recorded by Don Cherry in 1955. This version reached the Top 5 in the United States. Another recording was done in 1955 by singer Kit Carson (born Liza Morrow) that reached #17 on the Top 100, and there was also a British cover by Petula Clark.

Cherry re-recorded the song for his album, There Goes My Everything, in 1968.
