A barcarole (from French, also barcarolle; originally, Italian barcarola) is a folk song sung by Venetian gondoliers, or a piece of music composed in that style. In classical music, two of the most famous barcaroles are those by Jacques Offenbach, from his opera The Tales of Hoffmann and Frédéric Chopin's Barcarole in F sharp major for solo piano. Andre Rieu records both DVD and CD repertoire at his own recording studios in Maastricht in a wide range of classical music as well as popular and folk music plus music from well-known sound tracks and theater musicals. His popular orchestral presentations to worldwide audiences presents classical music to all music lovers of all genres. [1] |
